Starting it all off

Gaz Of All Trades

First off, I love learning.

Doesn’t matter what it is, I love the input of new knowledge and skills.  I try to expand my skills every day.

Sometimes I fail at something, as I normally don’t get any outside help, other than reading articles, or watching videos, but that doesn’t matter.  It’s all steps towards getting it to a point your happy with.

This blog and subsequent videos and site will be all to do with that learning journey, and my successes and failures.

I have taken to upgrading my skills over the last couple of years, as i am completely baffled by the waste in society, and the apparent lack of multiskilled individuals who call in an expert for absolutely every situation.
Either way, some of the things I’ve done in the last couple of years are renovating my house, including bathroom and kitchen, learning to plaster to an OK level, upcycling and repairing some great antiques and vintage boxes, lanterns and furniture, making my first knife from hardened tool steel (this one was quite fun). I now consider myself a pretty competent portrait photographer and landscape photographer (check out my site www.garethnormanphotography.com if you don’t believe me.) Just anything that is enriching and makes my life better and fuller.

There are a huge amount of things I want to make and learn and I think documenting my progress is a good thing to do.

It’s gonna take a bit of time to start it up, but the blogs and videos will be coming on very soon.

I will be working with some experts and other makers to build up my skills, and can’t wait to do this.

Here are a couple of things I’ve done over the last couple of years.  Lots more ideas and learning experiences are in my head, so can’t wait to start blogging them.
