Lights Camera Action!

Lights Camera Action!

I’ve been working on a lot of things lately, hence the lack of posts. Just so much throughput going on i’m not keeping up with the blogs

One of the things i’ve been working on, because i got a few lots in auction and from house clearance is stage lights.

Stage Lights are cool. They look cool, and with a little bit of work, can make a great room lamp.

The old one’s i have are great looking already, and just need a clean and a tripod to get in the shop. Not done a video on it, but i have been making the tripods out of some lengths of 1″x2″ lengths. A few bolts and some chain to keep the legs in check, and they are going in the shop.

I have a large selection of lamps at the moment, or items that can be made into lamps, so i’m cracking on with getting them ready and in the shop. Some will get a dedicated video, Some will go into a general lighting video.

Some of the newer lights i think i’m going to hit with a splash of colour, rewire, and get them on a tripod.

The other lighting are more desk lamps, including some really nice old metalite’s, so they will probably be stripped and rebuilt.

Making a decision on how far to take a restoration, or what to do with an item in general is usually, for me, bound by how bad the items condition is in. If it’s absolutely awful state, i would usually strip paint, get it back to it’s component pieces, and respray and rebuild.

If it’s OK, Acceptable, or Good then i’ll usually clean only. Maybe sort out a few of the worse parts with something a little more, but the mainstay is just getting a good clean.

Lighting is something that’s always a good seller in the shop. If your looking at some new lighting, please take a look at wildcardcuriosities.com, or drop in store at Freemens Common Antique Centre.

Below are a couple of videos of a restoration and also a reuse of an old heatlamp.

Give me a follow to keep up with the exciting projects i'm working on.
