Finishing Touches to the Ammo Box

Can’t believe I actually got round to finishing this box to be honest.  It really needed doing so I can happily move onto the next project.

To finish up I decided to complete the inside with a home front theme and feel, and on the outside a slightly more military stencil going on.

Using the Stencil

Picked up some Stencils for the Military Style writing on the box. Amazon Prime is a lifesaver sometimes.

The stencils came in 4 different sizes, and i used 2 of them for the lettering on the box.

As I was spraying directly onto the top, I didn’t want any, or little over spray.  I cut out a letter size box in the middle of a piece of plastic that was going to be thrown anyway.  It worked quite well, with only a little over spray happening.

I used a bit of chalk to mark the centre of the box, so I had an idea where I wanted to do the text.  I measured the rest by eye.

Using a white radiator spray paint means I don’t need to lacquer over.
If I have to do this again i think i would have made the over spray guard a little tighter, and measured the points I wanted the text on the box a bit better.  The next Ammo Box will be a lot tighter.

I have used contact adhesive to get the posters onto the wood, then varnished over to seal the deal.

There are things i’d like to improve, but i’m pretty happy with the outcome of this one.

The box has now been sitting outside for the last couple of weeks, and has endured a couple of small storms in between the seasonally great weather.  It will be coming in now for my Daughter to start filling up with even more toys!
