Well this project needed doing.
My old desk was made about 10 years ago, was half the size i really wanted it, and falling apart quite quickly.
I needed to make something new, but cheap. Scaffold Boards spring to mind because they are usually, straight, solid and the right length for a room without the need to build it in 2 parts.
I had the scaffold boards delivered by a local guy looking to get rid of his old ones.
A great price for me, and i now have 10 boards in my back garden. I only needed 3 for this project.
With the other one’s, ideas are flowing, but for now back to the desk.
I basically chose the boards i wanted, ran them through a planer to flatten the edges and got the boards glued together.
Left it overnight to dry, and it is solid. Cut down each end to get it the right length, then planed and sanded the top and bottom.
After sanding i applied some briwax in antique mahogony. I was a little concerned it would be too dark, but it turned out ok.
Have a quick look at the video for information, video and some nifty timelapses.
Give me a follow to keep up with the exciting projects i'm working on.
